renewing contract: good phone deal?

When my current contract is up, can I get purchase a new phone
with a new-contract promotion (e.g. $50 rebate)? Or are
the promotions for brand-new customers? Thanks.

You'll get the same deal as a new customer would.

Possibly better depending on how many contract cycles you've completed with
Cingular.

You may also as stated just extend your current contract and not get a new
plan.

Go to a local Cingular store and talk to the manager and see if he has
any flexibility on what to offer.

Re: renewing contract: good phone deal?

Go to the Cingular web site, log into your account, and look for the
phone upgrade option. That'll tell you if you've been in your contract
long enough to get a new phone (you don't need to be at the end of a
contract, but you'll need to renew).

If you're eligible, you can go to the store and try to get a good price
on the phone they want to sell you, or you can buy the phone you want
online (the in-store selection tends to lag the online selection).

tg.
