Cingular in SW Wisconsin

Having just switched from US Cellular to Cingular 2 weeks ago... I find
reception problems my biggest complaint. The phone I bought with the 2 year
contract was the Motorola V220. 64K sim. I don't have any signal at my job
in Madison and the signal was non-existent the closer to Mineral
Point/Dodgeville as I drive. My father lives in Mazomanie/Black Earth area
and my signal was gone there too. The maps show coverage for all of Dane
county and some of Iowa co. A phone call to Cingular rep had me shut the
phone off and he "pushed" a software update to the phone. Since I didn't
look at the revision before hand, I don't know if he is BS'ing me or not. I
have yet to drive back to the locations to where my service is problematic.
Does anyone in SW WI have Cingular reception issues? Anyone know if Cingular
will increase the number of towers in WI or should I bail on this contract
before the 30days?

Depends on who the alternatives are. Cingular has the worst customer
service rating in the industry, and the well deserve it.

Don't bet on the future -- go with whatever carrier gives you the best
coverage (and rate plan, etc.) today.

J.D. Power, The Yankee Group, and Consumer Reports have given low rating
recently to

AT&T Wireless
SprintPCS
Cingular

Cingular is not the worst, but hardly near the top.

Check out Consumer Reports.
Cingular's customer service is not good.

Thanks John for the replies. The lack of coverage in SW WI which is the
direction from Madison that I need most will be the decision maker. I'll
see if reception improved this week when I return from holiday vacationing.

US Cellular was not costly, but the lack of "minutes to dollars" on the
plans drove my decision to change services.
