I have a Motorola V551. I installed phone tools and upgraded to the current
application using live update.
In the multimedia phone tools application, I can not view the audio files
that are on my V551 phone. I get the error message, "error on line 10-,
position 22. white space is not allowed at this location when trying to look
in the audio folder or while in the my music tab.
I can still transfer mid files and they are on the phone but I can't see
what is there using the tools.
I have the latest version of phone tools using liveupdate. I use the
bluetooth version.
I was able to see my files at first then got that message. I've tried
rebooting, shutting off the phone to no avail.
Please help!

Using the phone menus , make sure none of your file names on these midi
files are too long and make sure none have special characters in their names
such as the '&' symbol. If you find any rename them and then connect up to
the pc , and try to view them again in mpt.

Do the phone files have one or more spaces in the file name? If so, try
renaming them with the phone without spaces to see if MPT like them
better afterwards.

Yes -- you are right, some of the files have characters. I would like to
rename them but how do I do that if they don't show up in phone tools and
you can't edit the name or delete the files directly on the phone?

Re: Help -- phone tools 3.19e error
yes you CAN edit the names of the files directly on the phone. Go into your
media files, and with one highlighted click the center menu button and
choose rename. Its important that you not choose the view button to pull up
that picture because then you can't rename it Just get to the list of media
files and click the menu button then choose rename.

Re: Help -- phone tools 3.19e error
Thanks -- I've now edited the names of the ringtones that had the
characters. Now I have to re-install the software as it was just really
messed up or so I thought.
Are other people using 3.19e without problem? Is there an older version that
is better?
Also, the book that came with the V551 isn't all that explanative. How do
you learn about all the shortcuts and more about what the phone can do?
Maybe I have to read the book cover to cover.
Thanks for your help.

If you can't see folders, set the port to exclusive access. This is a known
bug.
