I am trying to email my phone a ringtone by attaching it to an email
addressed to <my number>@cingularme.com. I only get the email text without
    the ringtone attachment.

I must be doing something wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Are you sure your phone can receive attachments? What phone is it?

    Re: emailing ringtone

That's just a regular phone, as opposed to being a smart phone or
handheld computer. Likely it doesn't receive attachments. Bluetooth or
cable connection to your computer will work though.

    Re: emailing ringtone

While YMMV (your mileage may vary) I have recently found that to email
myself an attachment it has to be to a Multimedia address (MMS) which means
I have to be subscribed to a bundle package or pay-per-call. I email myself
an attachment to [email protected]. I got this
address by emailing myself a photo and then replying but changing the
attachment. When I talked to the CS people at Cingular I was told this is
not known to them, not supported and that I couldn't get support for it but
if it worked for me that was great. While the fact that it is not supported
seems a bit strange it still works. I'm thinking one of the reasons for
non-support may be that virus/trojan/crap may also be attached and infect
    the phone?

Used this same technique myself to send ringtones and wallpapers to my v551
before I purchased a Bluetooth adapter and 'acquired' the Motorola Phone
Tools software. It always worked well for me.
