Question

Hello,

All the people in here are really smart and helpful, can someone PLEASE
tell me how to get the word Cingular ( or change it to something I want it
to say) on the main display if there is a way? I own a LG L1400.. I`ll
getcha a beer or your beverage of choice for the help..

Also possible with the External display on the Motorola v400 and v600.
Instead of CINGULAR, mine now has the name of my web site.

i don't think that you can do that only on your phone menu. when i was in the philippines i saw the way they do it, they use data cable & software to take word off and put something that you like.

With the old TDMA phones it was really easy to do, but with new GSM phones it's pretty much impossible.

The easy smart-ass answer: Use a SIM from another network. Pop in a
T-Mobile SIM, It will say "VStream". etc...

That text you see there is the short alphanumeric for the operator you are
using, in this case, Cingular. If you are using a different network
[PLMN], the name would correspond to that network. I don't think that
string is in the phone's firmware-- It's on the SIM, in the list of
operator names. You could try to change that using the AT+CPOL= command,
but I don't think the phone will let you edit the Preferred Operator List
so that The alphanumeric entry for Cingular is "-B0Z0-" See GSM 07.07 ch.
