It sounds like I have a mosquito trapped in the earpiece speaker portion of
my LG 1400. It makes this faint bzzz bzzz bzz noise when just sitting on
the table. This is the second time I have noticed it in the last couple of
days. Last time I took the battery off and reset it, and it stopped. Is it
some kind of wireless upgrade or is my phone going to explode soon?
Thanks,
Michelle

I doubt it's a wireless upgrade, but i really really hope it won't explode.
That would be bad.. How would you explain that to your carrier or your phone
insurance people. wow!

I really hope it doesn't explode either! I was just joking. Seriously
though, I wonder what it is. I left it alone and it stopped when someone
called. Weird.

Taking a moment's reflection, Danska mused:

If he's talking on it at the time of explosion, he won't have to explain
anything. ;-)

Re: strange noise from phone
If the noise is coming from the phone itself, and not a radio or amp
nearby, then your sound settings might be wierd. I don't know how that
would happen, but you could try resetting the audio gain settings to their
default values:
Type 2945#*# to get to the Test Menu. Select Baseband (2), Audio Gain
(8)and Default Value (5). While you're at it, could you go to "L1400
Vers" and post what it says?

I thought of interference, but even in the garden it was buzzing. Thanks
for the tip!

Thanks for this information - I never knew about the "test menu". Ok, I did
as instructed and reset the default value. Also, I made a mistake, I have
an LG1200 not 1400. The Vers says:
**Cingular**
L1200P40
V0.8.5
1-310-170
Apr 22 2004
What info can you glean from this, and what does it mean?
Thanks for the help!

Not a lot. I thought it might be a bug in the phone's software, either a
newer or older version than I have. (L1400)
Have you called Cingular Customer Service?

Naa, it's working fine, just the weird intermittent noise, which hasn't
happened yet again. I'd probably waste a lot of time on the phone over a
fluke problem that they couldn't help me with anyway.
Thanks again for your help,
Michelle
