Anyone else getting this? Every time I check my voice mail, I get a message
on my cellular "Information Received" after hanging up. When I press any
button, a second message "Sender: 50" appears. This happens after accesssing
VM from either the cell itself or from a land line. So far, Cingular and
Nokia have been useless in solving the issue. Phone is a Nokia 3120.

I have the EXACT same problem with Nokia on Cingular. It says
"Information Received: " and then Sender:50.
Nokia and Cingular have no idea what the issue is.

My guess: when you check your voice mail, Cingular sends a
specially-formatted SMS to your phone. The phone interprets this as the
signal to TURN OFF THE VOICEMAIL INDICATOR, and turns it off.
If your phone does not know how to interpret this special message, it
displays the data received instead.
People with some non-branded Motorola phones have reported a similar
problem with garbage text messages when voice mail is received and after
checking voice messages.

Re: "Information Recevied" message when checking VM?
I just spoke with Cingular, and had a case with Nokia, both unresolved
with this exact issue, on a Nokia 6230.
The problem is that the message which Cingular sends to turn off the
icon which sends you voice mail is incompatible with the firmware on
the phone, and this causes both the icon to disappear AND you see the
message.
The quick way to fix this would be to disable system messages, however
I cannot find a way to do this. The next best way is to have Cingular
change the message they send to the phone so it doesn't display the
message. The last way is to have Nokia and Cingular modify the
firmware in the phone to not display the Info message for VM cancel
icon.
I have been running around with Cingular and Nokia. They offered to
give me a new phone (not nokia and much cheaper than my phone) I told
them that is a ridiculous offer, and that I wanted a phone with all the
same features as my existing phone, OR they need to give me a full
refund on my phone.
I found a Nokia 6682 which has all the features I have in my 6230, but
they won't budge. They say it isn't on their list of freebies they can
exchange for.
They have escalated my case to their tech support and I should be
hearing from them within a few days.
My case on Nokia's site was closed. Nokia claims they don't provide
the firmware for this phone, or program how it responds to system
messages, Cingular does.
I'll post the solution if there is one.
