Are there such things as FREE RINGTONES?

In this world of subscription and weekly billed charges to your cell
phones for bogus ringtones, are there REALLY free ringtones sites
without subscription charges?

That's not entirely true. I was on a sight before that offered
ringtones of masters (Beethoven, Pachelbel, Mozart, et al) and there was
no cost for *ringtone*.

If you want ringtones such as clips from recent songs, yes, it will
cost, and most likely more than purchasing the entire song would.

Some phones also have ringtone composers right on the phone. My
Motorola C331t had this. However, it is cumbersome if it's available.

Not all music requires licensing. There is public domain music and
there are other artists who use an "open source" licensing approach. It
would be great to find a site that has ringtones for these types of
songs or one where people exchange the ones they've composed
themselves.

You might have to download them to your computer B4 transferring them to
your phone.
