I ordered a 29.95 Cingular Go phone from the Cingular site. Cingular took
$95 from my credit card and I founf out the phone was on back order and
Cingular has no idea when they will get it. I think they would not take any
funds out until item was shipped, that is what most good businesses do. And
I dont know why they took out $95, shipping is supposed to be free, and the
phone is only $29 and I picked the $49.95 plan and that still wouldnt come
to that much.

$29+first month $49.95+ fee's and taxes = $95
You pay a month in advance but with 29+49.95=78.95 that leaves about $16.05
for taxes.
Taxes on $29 for my location is $2.70
They should not charge the $49.95 till you call to activate the phone.
What do they say the $95 is for when you ask ?
From the cingular web site"Plan Terms Applicable to GoPhone Pick Your Plan
Your phone's display does not indicate the rate you will be charged. Please
review your coverage map, which shows the scope of your calling plan area.
Map depicts an approximation of outdoor coverage. Map may include areas
served by unaffiliated carriers and may depict their licensed area rather
than an approximation of their coverage. Actual coverage area may differ
substantially from area shown on map, as coverage may be affected by
terrain, weather, foliage, buildings and other construction, signal
strength, customer equipment and other factors. Cingular does not guarantee
coverage or network availability. Charges will be based on the location of
the site receiving and transmitting the call, not your location. Rates apply
on calls originating and terminating within the GoPhone Coverage Area.
GoPhone Pick Your Plan service requires: (1) a GSM phone programmed with the
Cingular Wireless preferred roaming database; and (2) credit card, debit
card, or checking account. To be eligible for service you must have a
mailing address and live within the Coverage Area. Only domestically issued
Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card, American Express and Diners Club credit
cards and debit cards with a Visa or MasterCard logo are accepted. Cash is
not accepted. Monthly payments to your Pick Your Plan account ("Account")
will automatically be made from your designated credit card, debit card or
checking account. Additional funds may be added to your Account at any time.

you will be required to: 1) electronically sign an agreement to set up
automatic payments to your Account using your designated credit card, debit
card or checking account; and 2) electronically sign your wireless service
agreement (terms of service). Payments in the amount of the plan you select
will automatically be made each month based on the day you call to activate.
However, if your activation date was the 29th of the month, your automatic
payments will be made on the 28th of each month and if you activate on the
30th or 31st of the month, your automatic payments will be made on the 1st
of the month. Funds deposited into your Account expire and your account is
suspended on the 34th day after your last automatic payment. Your Account
may be reinstated within 90 days from the date of suspension by
re-establishing your automatic payments. If a payment is made to your
Account before the current balance expires, the existing balance will be
carried over to the new expiration date and these funds can be used for a
rolling twelve-month period. Any funds remaining in your Account 12 months
from the date you originally activated your Account will be deducted from
your Account. Voice usage for each call is deducted in full-minute
increments with partial minutes rounded up to the next full minute at the
end of each call. Data usage is deducted in full-kilobyte increments with
partial data usage rounded up to the next full kilobyte at the end of each
data session. Account balance must be at least $6 to use MEdia Net and
Instant Messaging Services or to download ringtones, games and graphics. See

networks served by other carriers may take longer to be processed. Prices
