    Assuming you're trying to save the phone, the first thing you have to
    do is take the battery out. By first thing, I mean /immediately/.

    Otherwise, your phone becomes an electroplating chemistry experiment,
    and there is no hope for it.

    If the battery has been in for longer than 5 or 10 minutes, write it
    off and figure out how to replace it (which may have been the initial
    intent of your message; you weren't very clear).

    That's where your insurance comes in, they will not replace a water damage phone so you would have to do a "lost claim".

    No need to do a lost claim, insurance will cover water damage. Insurance covers anything and everything, let's just hope this person has it.

    My daughter put hers through the laundry and insurance covered it.
    (Now I need to figure out whether that extended our contract...)
