This week I took possession of a new (out-of-the-box) V3 Razr with a German
manual inside (bought on eBay). The phone came unlocked and after slipping
my Cingular SIM card inside, it worked fine calling and receiving calls.
BUT...I can't make it work with text messaging without adding a "1" in front
of the 10-digit numbers in my phone book. Also, the MMS and browsing
features won't work because I don't have Cingular settings. How do I get
them? Can I get them? Cingular didn't offer any help and Motorola didn't
either. Maybe I just haven't found the right people on the phone yet. I'm
continuing to try. Does anyone have any ideas? Like I said, the phone
works fine as long as I don't care to use the other features, but I'm
spoiled and don't want to give them up. Thanks.

Thanks for the advice, Jack. I'll check out that web site.

As far as the "1" in front of the 10-digit number, I guess it's not a big
deal. I was just spoiled with my Nokia. It doesn't require the "1". It's
been awhile since I've used my last Motorola (the V600) and I didn't
remember what number was required with it.

Re: Wanting to you German version of V3 Razr on Cingular in US

I just went through that when I replaced my lost RAZR with a French
one. I was able to get right to a Cingular support person who
patiently walked me through the laborious process of entering all the
    settings with the keypad.

If you can't find the exact values from a web site let me know and I
    will give them to you.

    Some notes:

    Start with Menu/WebAccess/WebSessions

You will need to add two new WebSessions called 'Media Net' and 'MMS'

After adding Media Net, make sure you make it the default (a German
    one will now be checked).

Make sure you use ALL CAPS for the password in all (3?) locations.

It works like a charm after that.

Re: Wanting to you German version of V3 Razr on Cingular in US

That makes me feel good to hear that someone else has gone through a similar
experience. Like you, I found a young lady today at Cingular that patiently
went through all that you listed below. Everything was just as you
said...except that mine still doesn't work just yet, but I feel very
confident that it will after today. Like I said earlier, the phone is
working like a charm as far as phone calls is concerned. After making all
the entries that you listed, I now get a different looking main menu. I
wish that I could delete the T-Mobile web sessions but they appear to be
locked...there's no delete option for them when I go to the sub-menu. I did
make the Cingular settings the default, however, so it should ignore the old
    T-Mobile sessions.

Thanks for taking the time to give me all the good pointers....

I'm just catching up on messages.

Here are my settings which were enough to download a ringtone which
mean I was able to get a message and connect.

Note the subtle differences in the settings with "cingular".
