I currently have a Family plan with Cingular and and got a 2 year contract.
We are past the 2 years, and are now able to upgrade. I went to the Cingular
store, and was told that I can get the best prices they offer on phones,
under the condition that I renew the contract for 2 years. I then saw that
the phone I want (Razr) was on sale at Best Buy for $100. I went in to Best
Buy and talked to someone who didn't exactly seem to know what was going on.
They seemed to be under the impression that I was just buying a phone without
a contract and wanted to charge me around $250, even though I told them that
this was not the case.
Now what I am wondering is if I can go to Best Buy, get the phone for $100,
keep my existing plan, but agree to the 2 year contract extention. Can I do
this, or must I go directly through Cingular in order to complete an upgrade?

Re: Best Buy upgrade
Any help would be really appreciated...Its a pretty long drive back to
BestBuy if I am going to get similar answers, but if I find out that I am
right here it would deffinatly be worth going back.

Re: Best Buy upgrade
From what I understand the $100 price is on a new two year contract.
I think they can do an UPGRADE but the phone price will be higher.
Compare Cingular Stores, retail locations (Best Buy) and authorized
cingular resellers. Sometimes retail and resellers give a better
equipment price because they eat the cost to get you as their
customer.

Re: Best Buy upgrade
I purchased a phone from them about 6 weeks ago the upgrade price was the
same as a new activation.
