Cingular TDMA maps

Where can I find maps of Cingular (orange) TDMA coverage? I realize it's
probably changing - I don't need the latest.

"Blue" is what the Cingular reps have been calling the TDMA network Cingular
inherited when they bought ATTWS.

Blue just means the ATTWS network, GSM or TDMA
Likewise orange just means the Cingular network, GSM or TDMA

Interesting, that despite all the talks of the merger it looks like the blue
TDMA network is not available to the KIC customers using the orange TDMA
network. Unless the map shown by the above link is outdated.

Calling them is not really an option as I'm not a direct Cingular customer.
John, I'll be happy to discuss why this is so off line with you. Or, call

I spent quite a lot of time trying to get Cingular's help people to tell
me where I could find a map showing their 1900 coverage, and finally
gave up--they apparently didn't have the information. Eventually someone
online--I don't remember if it was you or some other helpful
person--pointed me at a webbed map.

I wasn't a customer when I called. I was interested in exactly what the
coverage map looked like in my area, since I know I am at a fringe.
They sent a very nice small png graphic map to me via email, centered on my
zip code, since their lookup didn't find my address.

I can't buy a phone online from Cingular as a new customer using my address.
Verizon rejects my zip code as invalid.

How is that relevant?

From the perspective of the company, there's no need to have 1900 coverage
available to consumers -- the company sells and supports only dual-band
850/1900 coverage, so anything else is a poor use of resources.

But the issue of TDMA KIC orange roaming on blue if something else entirely,
and a legitimate concern.

Can one tell, on a V220 or V551, what frequency is being used?

"locked" item that can be changed by an end user?

Not that I know of.

Blue means the old ATTWS network, regardless of frequency.
Orange means the old Cingular network, regardless of frequency.

A phone will only roam on a non-Home network if (a) there is no "usable" Home
network signal, (b) it has the right frequency for the non-Home network, and
(c) roaming on the particular non-Home network is permitted by the carriers.
