What has been your experience with accessing the internet with a laptop
    using cingular?

Connection speeds, connectivitiy, and so forth.

This would be for business use.

While I am generally glad I got Laptop Connect with Cingular, it's not
without its problems. I have seen download speeds up to 190 kbps.
Other times I have difficulty making or maintaining a connection. To
see my overall experience, read the following thread. As you will
read, JN seemed to imply my experience was a rare and isolated
    situation. Judge for yourself.

I have similar experience.....when it is working it works well...but then
    there are times like the
last 3 days where speeds are effectively zero.

Pretty good -- I'm a heavy user from time to time of a laptop connected
through a Sony Ericsson GC82 using Cingular EGPRS(EDGE) in Northern California
(on the MEdia Works Unlimited feature for $20/month), and my typical network
throughput is solid at 100-150 Kbps, depending on signal strength. There have
been a few times in the past year when throughput was painfully slow to due to
Cingular data network problems, and a very few times when the Cingular data
network was down entirely and I was forced to fall back to CSD at 9600 bps.
(In each case of Cingular network problems I asked for and received credit.)
