What are the current plans for roll out of the HSDPA (high speed data
service) on Cingular? I hear December in 20 areas but then I don't see
any news on it from Cingular since January. Anyone know what the story is?

My guess is that it will appear first in those areas that already have UMTS
    service.

Earlier in the year, i heard that they were planning a major rollout for
the DC to NY areas due about now. However, at this time I can't get
anyone in the stores to confirm that. In fact, yesterday, in New York
City, I stopped in a Cingular store and asked about the high speed data.
Reply was, "it will be a long time."
When I asked for specifics, reply was "I don't know."

Do-CO-MA who had stated they would be HSDPA by end of year, has
announced they will extend that to mid 2006.

Store employees aren't any better informed than you or me.

    Re: HSPDA plans for Cingular?

UMTS should be launching around the 1 November in a handful of markets
including several in Florida, ATL, and DC according to my sources. The
phones and data pricing hasn't been announced yet. The speed of the
HSDPA is supposed to initially be as fast as what Verizon has going on.
Keep in mind that this is Cingular, and the launch date is subject to
    change. Hope that helps.
