Thanks for the reply. So you are saying that if I buy an unlocked
phone on eBay say that is Triband GSM 900/1800/1900 it will work but
the signal may not be as strong as if I was buying a Cingular unlocked
phone that was operating on a quad-band/850 frequency?

It's more a matter of coverage than of signal quality.
