Can anyone confirm that MEdia Net - Pay As You Go can be used for
occasional access to the internet for a laptop?

I know the data cost will grow quickly, but just want a mechanism for
    occasional e-mail retrieval while traveling.

    Thanks,

From the Cingular website: "MEdia Net packages are not available on PDAs,
RIM devices, or PC card modems. MEdia Net packages are not intended for
tethering. Cingular reserves the right to remove customers from MEdia Net
packages for the use of a wireless device as an interface to other devices
or networks, as determined by Cingular, including but not limited to device
    tethering."

How new? I found a cached copy from May, 2005. I also found mention of
the new terminology appearing Jan 2005 in a howardforum, although there
    isn't a quote.

Link please. I've been searching regularly, and didn't find anything in that

What is the oldest that you did find?
In looking agin, I find many June 2005 forum postings, quoting the page.
    <http://65.254.44.186/showthread.php?t=65210> is one of them.
On page one, there is someone noting that the page changed on Feb 04, 2005,
with no quote. On page two, there is a quote.

No it's not. One cannot assume that the poster was wrong. He just didn't
quote text from the page. Is it coincidence that your posting here ca

I see nothing relevant there, part of VerizonWireless.HowardForums.com

Anonymous anecdotal reports in web forums aren't reliable.

Can you actually point me to a "cached copy from May, 2005?"

    How often do you look?
It would be handy to know when it actually changed. One might be
grandfathered if there was a different version at the appropriate time.

Oops. Dropped a digit when I did the copy. Thread 652106.

I see What purports to be text copied from the page, posted to a forum in
June, that looks just like the text you copied from the page yesterday,
    which you suggest is new.

I carefully archived the Service Agreement and details of my rate plan and
options at the time I started my contract.

While that report might be true, even then it's possible that it wasn't
applicable (visible) to all subscribers and/or in all areas.
