Is there a department that can be called to talk to someone above the
Customer Service level? I have been lied to and given misinformation
by both CSRs and Supervisors, yet I am told (by both) that there is no
    department that oversees customer complaints.

I find it hard to believe that a company the size of Cingular does not
have procedures in place to allow customers the opportunity to go
"over the heads" of the Customer Service Supervisors. Especially
when, even by their own admissions in the note history, incorrect
    information/instructions have been given.

Any phone number/address would be helpful.

    Thanks

Cingular calls it the "Office of the President." The simple way to get in
touch with it is to file a complaint (e.g., with the BBB).

That would be a great idea, if someone other than a CSR would see it.
No doubt, you are a Cingular/AT&T representative, hoping that I
continue the never-ending, never-satisfying process I've been involved
    in for 17 months.

Fortunately, I finally satisfied my contract yesterday. It still took
67 minutes and three reps to cancel my service. While I was assured
that no charges would ever be billed again, I still fear that Cingular
will do whatever possible to find something to hold me there.

AT&T was a very respected organization. Cingular has turned it into
the sleaziest piece of corporate garbage in the United States. I
don't say that easily. My mother retired from AT&tT with 33 years
service. She herself has chosen, even being entitled to discount
service for life, to change cell carriers, because of problems she and
many of her family and friends have had with the Cingular attitude.

AT&T Wireless was not the same company as AT&T. While it had a good
reputation for customer service in the beginning, it's poorly managed
transition to GSM resulted in so many problems that customer service became
pretty bad. Cingular is actually a step up from that level, IMHO at least.

Maybe as a cell provider. In their other incarnations I found them to be
nothing less than sleazy. Now that I've cut the last of my ties to them,
getting me to do business with them again would have to make me very,
    very rich, very, very quickly.

This does not affect Cigular's membership in other BBBs around the country.

    Re: Customer Service Complaint

You would probably do better to put your complaint in a letter and send it
certified, with a copy to the FCC and to your state regulatory agency.
Probably that would take less time to write than the time you would spend on
    the phone.

The FCC probably already has piles and piles of 'em.

This is the fruit of competition. Lower prices, and a deregulated
environment. Some people benefit, others suffer. Cingular probably doesn't
give a rat's ass about people that complain. There are only a few carriers,
and irate customers just get recycled from one to the other.

In my experience, the local BBB is open for phone calls from 11 AM to 11:01 AM
every seventh Tuesday of the month. I haven't bothered trying them in years.

Didn't I just see somewhere in this newsgroup where the BBB of NY tossed
Cingular out of being a member for some period of time? The BBB is
nothing but a paper tiger. I seriously doubt any company really cares
what the BBB has to say about them. Bad BBB reviews might
cost them 0.1% of their customer base. Big whoop.

I know from first hand experience that companies, including Cingular, care
    very much about the BBB.
