I'm buying the RAZR v3 and I have a Dell Axim X30 (high) pocket pc and wish
to be able to view my contacts stored on the pocket pc via a Bluetooth
connection from the RAZR. I'm thinking that I'll be able to just view and
dial the contacts from my phone once the bluetooth connection between the
two is made. I don't want to have to synch the contacts up to the phone to
be dually stored there too. The phone numbers will be stored on the pocket
pc only, but be just accessible via the link. Is this the way it works?

You won't be able to view the contacts from the Axim on your Razr, but
you will be able to dial any of your contacts from the Axim. You simply
click a contact and tell it to dial the number on your phone. The only
catch is that you will not be able to use a bluetooth headset, and
expect to dial a phone number at the same time.

If I understand you correctly, you are saying that I have to pull the Axim
X30 out of my belt holster, use two hands to pull up and select my contact,
hold the phone between my ear and shoulder, then click the X30 contact and
the phone will start dialing the number? That sux. What is limiting the
phone from seeing the contacts without me taking the pocket pc out - the
bluetooth fuctionality or the phones fucntionality?

Is there a bluetooth cell phone via cingular that will do what I explain in
    my post?

Bluetooth is just a communications protocol, in order to do what you
want, you'd have to have software on the phone that runs over the
bluetooth protocol that knows how whatever application you have on
your Dell stores its data. It would then need to be able to access that
data (phone number list), pull that data down to the phone and display
the info and allow you to select an entry to dial. No, I know of no
such phone that currently has software. If any phone can, it would be a
    smart
phone (which a RAZR is not) that runs Symbian, PalmOS or
Windows Mobile. It certainly would be possible to write such
an application on any of those, but it would have to be something
that interfaces with your Dell software.

On the other hand, it might be possible to go the other way if there is
software written for the Dell that can connect to a bluetooth headset,
and a bluetooth phone and pull the phone data off the phone and
allow you to dial it through the Dell (such software exists for
the PC, so why not for a PDA).

Actually before someone corrects me, bluetooth is a bit more
than a communications protocol, I used bad terminology, but
what I was trying to say is that the OP made it seem like he
though if two pieces of hardware had bluetooth, the software on
the devices magically interoperated. All I was trying to say
was the bluetooth allows the devices to connect to each other,
after that, it's up to the software on either device to make
    the devices actually work together.

I understand completely, you are saying that while the RAZR (or any other
cell right now on the market for that matter) has the bluetooth
functionality, it just does not have the software to do what I wish. That
    sux.

    Thanks.

The limiting factor is that they are not designed to work that way. I
ended up switching to a the Audiovox SMT5600. This stores all of my
contacts from Outlook in one place and works great with a Bluetooth
earpiece. Unless there is some killer reason that you want a Dell X30,
I would jut get a Smartphone. It's cheaper that way too.

Simply put, No. There is no such product. This is a limitation of the
RAZR phone and to my knowledge there is no plan to fix it.

While I agree with you, that's not much of an answer. How about we put our
heads together, and look into defining something...? After that, let's see
about implementing it... You & I can't be the only two people on this ball
of dirt & rock that would like to have that kind of functionality...
