I'm looking for a blackberry/ipaq type cingular device that has
killer RF. Since nokia isn't going to have one for a while, I'm
wondering if there is any alternative available. I don't think
there is, but thought i'd ask. I'm on a fringe area at home and
the only phones I have found that work here are Nokia 6620,
    6230 and Motorola RAZR V3.

Have you considered an external antenna? A friend with a similar problem to
yours got an ARC Freedom antenna, which plugs easily into her Motorola V551,
and completely solves her coverage problem at home. The antenna is nice
looking, and easily carried from place to place.

I guess I should look into whether something like an HP 6515 has an external
    antenna option.
