My wife's no name RAZR car charger prevented the phone from
accepting incoming calls while it was charging.

With all due respect, I don't think that's possible. Perhaps the profile for
charging was screwed up.

Re: Cingular store ripoff pricing on accesories <- DUH! Take yourcar to the dealer for an oil change?!?!
When you go to the dealer, you're getting an OEM oil filter, not the $1
filter that the quick-change places use. You're also usually having the
oil changed by someone who knows how to do it properly, and that won't
destroy your vehicle in the process.
Actually, many dealers have good prices on oil changes, compared to
places like Jiffy-Lube, though often not as good as independent
mechanics. I.e., in my area, the dealers are usually running $30 oil
change specials, while independent shops are charging around $15-25.
Jiffy Lube is $36 in my area. But I'd never let Jiffy Lube touch one of
my vehicles, with all the horror stories.
It used to be that the wireless carriers sold the high quality
accessories from the phone manufacturers, albeit at high prices. Now
they've switched to low quality accessories, but kept the prices high.

The filters used by most quick-change places are as good or better than OEM
filters, and the level of skill needed is trivial.

Re: Cingular store ripoff pricing on accesories <- DUH! Take yourcar to the dealer for an oil change?!?!
You do realize that phone makers don't make the accessories. When they
design a phone they send the specs for chargers to vendors who make the
chargers for them and put their cute little logo on it so they can
charge you more. Despite what you call cheap accessories is often the
same as the OEM charger. Convince is the factor here, get it now, no
wait, got a problem take it back to the store.
