I'm still unable to get my MediaNet plan to work with tethering. My
question, I know there's a $59.99 data connect plan. It mentions that
you need a laptop with a pc card. I will be using this plan to tether
my phone to my pocketpc and laptop. Will it work this way?
As well, I see a PDA Connect plan for $44.99. Will this plan do
    tethering?
What puzzles me is if I read right their Broadband Connect plan is
$59.99. Well I would be shocked that it's the same price as their
Data Connect plan. Is this right? I would hope the standard data
plan goes down in price and obviously would be shocked if it goes up
to the regular price of $79.99.

Ask John Navis, everything works for HIM.

Ok, seriously...don't expect the PDA plan to work for cellphone
tethering. It might or might not work, but CS will not support any
issues you call about. John says it worked for him, but we couldn't get
    it to work.

Go with the $59/mo data plan while its still on sale (normally $79). You
can tether your laptop to your cellphone for unlimited data connection
usage. You do NOT have to buy a data connection card for that plan.

The regular price for the unlimited data plan is $79, but if they start
offering the Broadband for that price, its likely they will just keep
    the data plan at $59.

I had a similar problem. It was working with pay per use using MPT. I
started a MediaNet plan and it didnt work. The reason was MPT defaulted
to ISP.CINGULAR.COM for pay per use and laptop connect. But when using
MediaNet it is WAP.CINGULAR.COM. It worked when I changed it from ISP
    to WAP.

The problem is that Cingular Connection Manager presumes Data Connect.
To use MEdia Net instead, follow the procedure in
    "Cingular Wireless MEdia Configuration"
    <http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Cingular_Wireless_MEdia_Configuration>
(companion document to the Cingular Wireless FAQ, link below).

    Yes.

Yes (although you're not supposed to).

Sorry John...I have seen credible evidence as of last Saturday morning
it will not work in MY SPECIFIC MARKET.

My guess is that you didn't have it configured properly. If would be very
difficult for Cingular to stop it, since a tethered connection is essentially
indistinguishable from a direct connection from the standpoint of the network.
