All Motorola Razr V3s received by Cingular after March 1st are being recall.
Motorola says a defective component causes dropped calls. All inventory, in
both distribution centers and stores are on an immediate "Stop Ship" order.

Replacement inventories should begin arriving in distribution centers on
Friday, March 10th and in stores by middle of next week.

This does NOT affect earlier units sold or shipped before March 1st!

    Re: Razr Recall

Something here doesn't make sense. If ALL units received by Cingular
after 3/1 are recalled how can NO units shipped before 3/1 be affected?
Wouldn't some units shipped before 3/1 be received after 3/1? There
must be a serial number cutoff to clear this up.

More research shows that it's all v3 shipped after Feb 1.

My mistake...it should be Feb 1st..

The cutoff has to do with a lot of units and subsequent lots, all received
by Cingular distribution centers and shipped from there beginning Feb 1st.
Anything Cingular had prior to that date is "known" good. The biggest
problem is that it seems to affect 20 to 30% of the lot. Cingular refuses to
allow a potential 30% failure rate on a device that is "upper tier".
Therefore, they gave the problem back to Motorola, and 100% of the suspected
    lots are being returned.

BTW, it was Motorola who brought the issue up to start with.

There is no "RECALL"...... All Black/ Silver RAZRs that were effected have been corrected and are shipping again..... Pink RAZRs still on hold.

The issue was a defective switch. The phone, intermittently, would not recognize if the flip was open or closed. Had any keypad not repsonding issues lately? Display not working? Give cingular a call :-)

News reports stated that incoming calls were dropped when the phone was
    opened, those
Offshore manufacturing jokesters were just looking for some April Fools
    day fun, but the
    shipment sailed in early.

And all this time people were blaming the network. BTW, the same recall
    is for T-Mobile Razrs.
