Trying to reach a Cingular TDMA phone in Boston area.
When I call from a land line phone I get an immediate rapid busy signal.
Tried that from two different 617 phones. Same problem. Been going on
for 4 hours plus.
If I call from a Cingular GSM phone, it connects fine as does a text
message.
Calling Cingular.....they report no problems in the Boston area.
Any ideas as to cause?
Thanks.

It is well known that Cingular is cutting back on TDMA towers, and that they
deny that anything is amiss, when customers call.
I left and switched to Sprint, and all that Cingular BS is history now. As
I understand it, millions of former ATTWS customers have walked, rather than
allow Cingular to twist their arms into buying new GSM phones, pay higher
prices for less minutes, pay new activation charges as though they were new
customers, and sign new two-year agreements.
It appears that Cingular has been slowly tightening the noose, and then
pressing ATTWS customers into re-upping, in the hope that they can get the
customers to agree to losing all the perks they've earned over the years.
TDMA is NOT going to get any better than it is now. You will continue to
get missed incoming calls, slow receipt of voicemail and SMS messages, and
dropped calls in places that formerly were not problematic. All indications
are that Cingular is doing this by design.
Heaven help you if you have an emergency, as my wife recently had, and your
TDMA phone was unable to find a signal, even though Cingular GSM customers
have no problem.
When you tire of throwing your money at a company that deliberately denies
you the service that you pay for, consider jumping ship and going with
another carrier. I did, and my only regret is that I did not bail out of
Cingular last July, when my contract term had ended.

We regret that too, maybe you'd be through "venting" by now. EVERYONE knows
TDMA is a dying technology, give it up!
