I have a 10 year old Nokia (not analog) phone that was purchased new from a
Cellular One Corporate store. I later changed my plan to $24.95 a month for
free nights and weekends and 300 prime time minutes. Needless to say, I like
my plan because its workable for my needs and really like the monthly fee.

    QUESTION:

Any way to upgrade to a GSM phone (e.g. Motorola SLVR) and still keep my
    current plan and price?

I did keep my home50 plan while upgrading to a v3 razr. I called the
disability 800# on web site and asked them, they said it was ok todo. A
store cannot do this, they can only sell current offers. I had to buy the
phone outright (from cingular) and then called then up to put in on my
existing home50 plan. Of course when I called them they said they could not
do it, and then reminded them that they said I could do it (it was in there
log). Gave them both the phone serial number and sim card number and i was
in business. Went to the medianet site and activated internet pay as you go,
    if I needed that option.
    Good luck

How about a Cingular center, run by Cingular, where they have agents and
    phones.

Good luck. There are plans and phones that you cannot get from a store,
the web, or the normal tele-sales agents.

As the other person stated, you probably won't get a subsidized phone if
you do manage to stay on one of the older plans, but it may be well
worth it to buy a GSM phone somewhere else if you can find a way to keep
your old plan as the OP did.
