Honestly, this is like driving a car with a broken headlight with
neither one's driver's license nor proof of insurance.

cingular uses javascript on its "my account" login page without
checking to see if the functions it uses are disabled

cingular's entry in the whois database has no contact information other
than a link to its registrar

cingular has no [email protected] email account

cingular has no [email protected] email account

My Cingular cell phone coverage / signal strength has been near perfect
in all of the U.S. cities & a few in Mexico I've visited.

I can add a couple to your list.

For weeks, AT&T customers could not access their account log-in page
because of a dead link on Cingular's Home page. Strangely it worked
for some customers, but not others. It seems that people were taken to
different home pages depending upon the internet connection they were
    using.

The search function on Cingular's Home page was dead for a long time.
I see it's finally working now.

On Cingular's own forum, everytime I come back I have to keep logging
in again even though I check the box to: "Remember my login on this
computer". I do not have this problem on any of the other forums I
frequent that require log-ins. They remember me.

I don't have that problem on the forum, sometimes I'm logged in for days at

The wired side must be using the same web coder. On the main att.sbc.com
page, on two of the three pc's in this house if I select anything like
"residential" it loops back to the same page. Works fine on the 3rd
machine. All at the same xp level--same IE6 level. No popups blocked--no
errors shown--doesn't appear to be a cookie problem. But something
    they're doing IE doesn't like.

If it was really something IE doesn't like, then presumably all machines would
fail the same way. That they work differently suggests some difference at
your end, rather than a website problem. The Residential button works fine
here in both IE6 (with all updates) and Firefox 1.5.0.2.

E-bay keeps you logged in for 24 hours, just as they
    mean to.

If any of you are interested, I dug up the old thread that goes into
detail on this problem. It makes for interesting reading.

Found it by browsing the source. One of the parameters in the selected
url concerned location code so I deleted every sbc cookie I could find
and bingo it cleared it up. On two machines--the 3rd machine had never
previously beed used to access sbc.com. Bet I'm not the only one hit if
they reused a cookie from the old system without resetting all the
    variables. Oh well.

where'd you come up with 24 hours? not true, from
ebay's own page. no where does it claim 24 hours only.
    http://pages.ebay.com/help/newtoebay/signin.html

To sign in to your eBay account:
1.. Go to the sign-in page.

Important: Be sure the Web address of your sign-in page starts with https://signin.ebay.com.

2.. Type your eBay User ID and password.

3.. Optional: To have eBay keep you signed-in until you sign out, select the Keep me signed in check box.

Note: As a safety measure, if you're using a public or shared computer, always click the Sign Out link near the top of the page
    when you're finished using eBay.

4.. Click the Sign in Securely button.

Don't use the "Keep me signed in check box" if you're on a public or shared
computer! If you don't, then there's no need to sign out -- just close all
browser windows -- although signing out is still a good idea just to be sure.

The bigger problem is that it's a very bad idea to type a password into a
public or shared computer! That's because your password might be captured by
    malware running on that computer.

Ah ... try Ebay. That button is less then worthless.

And apparently, only if you don't close the browser. It has never worked
between sessions for me, on either IE or FF.

Remember me on this computer works here for eBay, even when all browser
windows are closed, with both IE6 and Firefox 1.5.0.2
