A friend has two Cingular phones, both have had unexplained Data
Charges for 2 months. Yesterday, he called Customer Service and had all
Data capabilities disabled on both accounts. The CSR could not explain
what initiated the Data Transfers. All of the Data Sessions were
out-bound. SMS is not used, nor is Web surfing, or email. Here is a
short example:
Detailed Statement of Cingular Wireless Charges (continued)
· · To/ Msg/ In/
· Date Time From Type KB Out
· 66.
· 04/07 19:08 Data Transfer MyWirelessWin 44 KB Out
· .44
·
· 67.
· 04/07 19:09 Data Transfer MyWirelessWin 42 KB Out

· 68.
· 04/08 14:59 Data Transfer MyWirelessWin 37 KB Out
· .37
Some days there were 3 or 4 sessions within a few minutes time-frame,
then there may not be another session for a week.
Any ideas what is going on here?

sending emails or mms and its being sent wrong. thats about the right size
for a picture.. is it a branded or unlocked phone?

Probably hitting the Cingular button, which takes you online with GPRS
data, charged pay-as-you-go if you don't have a data package. To avoid
that, you can have GPRS turned off.
