I on average receive 15-20 calls per day and find that 2-3 calls come
in without a ring or vibrate. I have my phone set to ring at the
highest level with vibrate. Sometimes I have been holding my phone and
notice the screen light up and say incoming call so I receive all my
calls but some of them don't ring. I went to my Cingular and was
told to contact warranty exchange (my Sony Ericsson s710 was only a
month old) and was replaced with a Sony Ericsson w600i and that phone
started doing the same thing and now I am waiting for my 2nd
replacement. Has anyone ever heard of this before? I thought it could
be a network issue but was re-assured that because the phone was
acknowledging the incoming call that it was not the network. Any
thoughts?

Re: Phone not ringing
Do you have those particular numbers to ring silent? Or have them grouped
so that it is silent?
Is the ringtone assosciated with those people still available?
It sound like the phone number setting for that particular number, check
that out, too

I do not have any special ring groups, tones and they are all set to
ring. It is random numbers and not always the same number that comes
through as silent and no vibration

Re: Phone not ringing
I have had a similar experience when, all of a sudden, I am notified that I
missed a call or have a new voicemail even though the phone didn't ring.
Also, I have been told by friends that at times when they have called, my
voicemail picks up even before the first ring???

I have a very similar problem for the past seven weeks on two phones. The
only difference is that we are NOT notified of a voice mail waiting and the
only way we get them is to call voice mail periodically.
This happens on about 10% of the incoming calls.
In fact I just got off the phone with Cingular tech non-support, bout he
12th call in past several weeks. They made yet another few "adjustments".
I am really at my wits end as both phones have missed very important calls
and it's costing me money, literally. Yet if I try to break the contract
(which would cost about 500 bux including the setup for a new carrier) or
ask for some compensation on my bill, they tell me to kiss off. They don't
"guarantee" that calls will be completed.
Can't wait til the contract is up.

I was having that problem, since I bought a new LG phone a month ago at
Wal-Mart
saleslady put the SIM card from my Nokia in the LG, and the new SIM card for
the LG in the Nokia for my girlfriend
I called Cingular, and they had to change the phone serial numbers in the
computer, so the phones would receive the correct updates.
also, the service tech told me that it helps if you turn the phone off, and
on once a day.
have not had any trouble in the last week.
try the off and on once a day, preferably outside, see if that might help

That means your phone was off-network.

And why can't Cingular fix the problem. My two phones have been doing this
intermittently for the past seven weeks. All I get from them is "we
apologize".

I am on my 3rd phone that I have had for 2 weeks with no problems yet.
(I still have my fingers crossed)
