It is a hassle to have to call Cingular for a new PUK code. My wife was
trying to adjust her bluetooth headset and after she tried three times
to get to to work right her phone said enter the PUK code.

I couldn't find a way to determine the old one and create a new one.
All the newsgroups say call the Cingular CSR but I find it hard to
believe there is not an algorithm that would let a field tech change it
on his/her own and if they can they the number has to be available
someplace. Any suggestion besides give it up and call Cingular?

It is 6am now. If no one answers this msg affirmatively in the next
three hours I will probably have called Cingular and have the info I
need. I am only asking here for future reference in case this problem
ever happens again during off hours. Such an algorithm is not illegal
to possess or give out is it? Or is there no such algorithm?

Okay. I called. I got a special afterhours number. Nonetheless it would
still be nice to be able to do it myself.
