About 2 weeks ago I purchased a Samsung D407 phone which is Edge 10
    capable.

About 1 week ago I posted a question here about getting it to work
attached to my laptop via bluetooth. John Navas responded with helpful
info that worked fine. I had added a medianet package for a few days
while I experimented. I have since removed that package.

Now we are leaving on a trip tomorrow morning and I added back the
medianet package so that I would be able to use the laptop during our
trip. I tried using the same DUN icons to connect and it says it
dials and registers the computer and then it fails with an "error 734
    - PPP Link Control Protocol was terminated".

I have investigated through Google and can't find any information that
solves my problem. I tried recreating the dial-up connections several
different ways with the same results.

I hope someone out there can come up with a quick solution or I'll be
out of luck for this trip.

or, I wonder if they just haven't turned on your MediaNet service yet.
Did you have data access disabled or did you have a pay-per-use plan?

I recently made that work on a laptop with Ubuntu Linux, a bluetooth
USB dongle, and a Motorola v557. Very cool. In doing so, I noticed
that the connection doesn't really use authentication (even though the
faq says "CINGULAR1" as a password) so perhaps that article has
something to do with your issue.

Error 734 - PPP Link Control Protocol Was Terminated

I recall getting that message a lot when I tried to use my laptop
with my phone. IIRC I called tech support (networking) and they
did something to my account (re-provision?) to fix it.

Thanks for the pointer to the article, but it didn't fix the problem.

A week ago I had a medianet bundled plan when I was testing. When I
removed that plan, I had them disable internet access so I wouldn't
    accidentaly use internet access.

When I called them today to add medianet back, I told them that I had
disabled it and to be sure everything was enabled. They said
everything was OK at their end. I'm beginning to doubt that.

I just called the support line and had them check everything. I can
access email and browse the internet on my phone, but still can't get
to the internet from my laptop.

I just checked one more time after my second call to support and
everything is now working on the laptop. I'm guessing that when I
called support the first time this afternoon, they said they made some
changes and I should turn off/on my phone to get the changes. I did
this, but I'll bet the changes hadn't really been made yet. When I
called support for the second time, I also cycled the power on the
phone and this probably picked up the changes made earlier.

    A good plan, in general.

That may have confused them. The Cingular feature administration system is
not very good. Got to your account on www.cingular.com and look at what
    features you have.

Check just before and a day or two after any call to customer service, to
make sure your feature list is what you want.
