(Cingular) 8525:
The detailed 8525 Users Manual (The booklet that is not
included in the box)states that Task Manager can be found
at:
Start/Settings/System(tab).
On my phone it is not there!
I do not recall if Task Manager was ever originally
installed there in the first place.
Is the User Manual correct that task Manager indeed should
be originally installed on a 8525 phone?
Or, is my 8525 typical with no installed Task Manager?
(For what it's worth, my (Sprint) PPC-6700 w/Win Mobile 5.0
also does not have an installed Task Manager in it.)
Thanks for any comments. ---Juan

Juan,
By default, Windows Mobile 5 does not have a "task manager" like the
Windows desktop OS counterparts. There are many fine task manager
programs for free or very little fee available from a variety of
vendors on-line.

Thanks for that "missing" Task Manager info.
For sure, I would not have posted here about this had not
the more detailed 8525 User Manual mentioned it as though
Task Manager was indeed supposed to be actually installed in
there with a visible Menu selection.
Almost bazaar, I say! Thanks again. ---Juan

I suspect it was an oversight on Cingular's part- HTC, the maker of the
phone, actually has their own task manager software included in the non-
carrier branded version of the phone. I suspect Cingular opted not to
include it in the Cingular version of the phone's firmware, then forgot
to remove references to it in the Cingular version of the manual!
I think you can probably find a copy of the program at xda-
developers.com, but plenty of free and low-cost task managers are also
available.
