Yup, a really neat piece of equipment. Too bad it's next to useless because
you have to be on the Stinkular network to use it....

that's only the phone part until Skype is ported over, the rest runs on
802.11g, so it's up to you if want to use ATT or your own network.

You can't buy it without a two year contract, Stinkwad.

Ah, but you can immediately break the contract for $175, so keep that in
mind. Why so testy?

That's the deal breaker for me. Cingular/AT&T is terrible.

What part of the country are you in? Here in Houston, there isn't much of a
problem.

yeah, but if ATT doesn't shape up Apple will force them to, Apple had to
get Intel in line a year or so ago, now Intel is operating much better.
Apple is pretty demanding and they simply won't allow ATT customers,
(soon iPhone customers) to receive poor service. it just won't happen.

yes, but ATT is a very old school company with much to learn from Apple,
Apple is really only technically 10 years old and can shape up ATT quite
quickly with a few succinct recommendations. Just look at what steve is
doing to Disney for a current example.

ATT just replaced their boss, that was steve's move, you can be 100%
sure.

Fantasy, those dinosaurs NEVER respond to that sort of thing.

Different matter entirely.

Another mindlessly silly fantasy.

wow, you apple fans sure do see the world through a different set of eyes,
eh? whitacre is retiring from att only a year early, at 65, and there's
been nothing to suggest it was anything other han by choice. additionally,
his replacement, stephenson, has been the heir apparent for quite some time,
and is said to be very much like whitacre, so if jobs did force something
(somehow), he didn't exactly change much.

The CEO of ATT was forced out last week. Fact.

Intel stock and internal performance was lack-luster before they finally
won the Apple contract. Apple quickly swooped in and straightened their
design and engineering groups out. Fact.

Apple at this point (or more technically, SJ) controls much of the
business world now. What he says moves markets faster than anyone alive.
Fact.

yeah, apple users see things as they are, no fluff, that's for sure.
> whitacre is retiring from att only a year early, at 65, and there's

ah, his performance at MacWorld *****ed the end of his career, he's not
a world class CEO, it was clearly apparent. The process to push him out
of ATT started the moment he "finally" got off the MacWorld stage.
Same thing happened to the SONY CEO, Nobuyuki Idei come to think of it.
MacWorld keynotes are like a guillotine if you don't measure up to
extremely high standards.
> additionally,
> his replacement, stephenson, has been the heir apparent for quite some time,

yes, but stephenson is younger and more articulate. you can't have
mind-numbing CEO's like whitacre near Apple products. Apple will not
tolerate it.
> so if jobs did force something

but he did change things, just like how he pushed Eisner out of Disney a
few years ago, and then became its largest shareholder... that was a
pure Steve move and everyone knows it.
will Apple do the same to ATT? hard to say, but Apple now controls what
ATT does in terms of wireless, so they are up against a tough task
master, can ATT measure up?

of course, but it puts all the pressure on ATT to keep the best phone in
their portfolio, ATT will have to bend to keep Apple happy.

Ah, whitacre is gone within 6 months of the iphone announcement, if
stephenson doesn't measure up, apple will push him out as well. that's
how steve works if you don't yet understand.

Different matter, but exact same "technique".

Nope! You just don't understand how Apple operates, yet.
