What is the SIM card default unlock for a Cingular SIM card in the usa?

That is, I've unlocked the subsidy from the Motorola cell phone but now I
can't use the original Cingular SIM card in any phone? What did I do wrong?

    Here's what happened:
    1. I called ATT/Cingular and requested a "subsidy unlock code" which was
emailed to me a day later (see email below).

    2. The ATT/Cingular instructions said I had to put a non-Cingular SIM card
in so I put in a T-Mobile SIM card (which was working fine in another
    phone).

    3. So, I popped the non-ATT/Cingular SIM card in the Motorola RAZR and the
Motorola RAZR asked for the 8-digit subsidy unlock code which I entered and
hit OK and it said it was unlocked. I made a phone call using the T-Mobile
SIM card to prove the subsidy unlock worked.

    4. HOWEVER, when I put the original working Cingular SIM card back into the
Motorola phone, it then kept saying "Enter Unlock Code" where it expects 4
    digits. I tried 0000, 1245, 5678, 0123, 9999, 6666, etc (every combination
I can think of) but I can't get past this Cingular SIM card unlock (which
    isn't the subsidy unlock).

    5. In fact, when I put ANY SIM cards (T-Mobile or Cingular/ATT) into the
now-unlocked Motorola cell phone, it says "Enter Unlock Code" and then when
I enter "0000" and hit "OK" it says "Unlock Code Incorrect. Try Again".

It must be in the phone 'cuz the SIM cards work find in a spare phone. What
is the default unlock for the Motorola RAZR if it is not what I tried
    above?

    WHAT is going on?

WHAT IS THE DEFAULT SIM CARD UNLOCK if it isn't the ones I tried above?

HERE IS THE EMAIL FROM ATT/CINGULAR (modified to obfuscate the code
    itself):

Your subsidy unlock request was received and processed, see below for
    details:

    IMEI #: ###############
    Unlock Code: ########

(To verify IMEI # press *#06#, this will poppulate a 15 digit # on the
screen. If this sequence does not work, simply pull the back and
battery out of phone and the IMEI will be listed on the back of the
    phone under the battery.)

Caution: If this process is unsuccessful five times in a row, the phone
will be permanently locked to the new at&t network. Do not attempt to
enter the code more than one (1) time total. Instructions below will
assist you in unlocking your device, if these steps are unsuccessful
please contact us at 1-800-331-0500 or (916) 843-4685 from overseas.

    Motorola
    Subsidy Unlock Process
With non-Cingular SIM inserted in device
    1. Turn on handset
    2. Enter unlock code when prompted
    3. Press OK
    4. Device should now be unlocked.

I called ATT/Cingular who gave me the after hours technical support number
866-801-3600 who then gave me the Motorola technical support number
800-331-6456 who helped me unlock the cell phone by a trick of hitting a
ton of numbers (I mean a ton) in sequence and pressing all kinds of buttons
which finally unlocked the Motorola RAZR which was already subscriber
    unlocked.

    Where!

Apparently there are TWO locks ... one for the subscriber which is easy to
overcome and the other for the phone itself which is much harder.

    Thanks,
    catherine

Try the last 4 digits of your phone number both ways. ex: If your number
is 808-555-2368 try 2368 ans 8632. You can also try the same with the
last 4 numeric digits of the IMEI.

Re: Cingular/ATT T-Mobile SIM Unlock default passord unlock code?

Not sure about Cingular/ATT, but for my T-Mobile V3, the 4-digit 'unlock
code' is originally set to 1234 and the 6-digit 'security code' is
originally set to 000000. The PIN2 code is originally set to 5678. The
'subsidy unlock code' is an entirely different item and is phone specific
and that's what you received in your email.

See 'Main Menu > Settings > Security > New Passwords' to change code or
password, and 'Main Menu > Settings > Security > SIM PIN' to turn on/off the
SIM PIN. It's described in a bit more detail in the manual.

See if it's the same for your Cingular sim, but, if not, I'd just call
    Cingular/ATT ... that's what I did with T-Mobile when I ran into the same
situation and they were very helpful.

I picked up a phone at Goodwill and couldn't unlock it for weeks even with
a brand new SIM card! I had tried every 4 number combo I could think of to
no avail (how many combinations are there anyway)?

But, after finding this on my search, as soon as I typed in "2222", viola!
It worked! THANK YOU MIKE S!

    BTW, what's the difference between a "PIN1" and a "PIN2".
How did you know what MY SIM card lock combination was?

Is there still a SIM1 lock on my card now?

How many combinations are there? You're kidding right? Let me take a
    wild stab here. 0000-9999. I'll guess 10,000.

How did he know what your lock code is? Did you happen to notice the
word DEFAULT in his answer? Unless changed the default is the one put in
at the factory and they are all the same. Hence the term, default.

    (shudder)
