Maybe two years ago that was true, in most areas its way faster than
    that now.

And still the slowest offering of the big three, despite the increase in
    speed.

    No they they haven't.

    Talk about reaching.

I use the web on my iPhone daily, and am not disappointed with the speed
at all. also, Find a wifi location and it screams.

EDGE is very usable for me with speeds averaging around 150 kbps. 'Course I
only need to use it less than 10% of the time. Most of my data is through
    WiFi.

I've also had the chance to compare the speed of loading actual Web pages
via EDGE on the iPhone to at least 4 EV-DO Treos. So far the Treos have been
slower every single time (with much better presentation of the actual Web).
I won't even mention how poorly CDMA 1x did compared to EDGE, but anyone
that doesn't take that into consideration is nuts: plenty of areas have no
EV-DO at all, and you will have to contend with 1x. If you want to talk
about slow and unusable, that would be 1x. Many areas I've been to or
through didn't have EV-DO. Every area I've been to so far with my iPhone at
    least had EDGE.

My Treo was painfully slow for web not to mention I mostly was using
    ..mobi type sites.

I'm still lucky to get faster than 180 Kbps in Dallas....hardly "way faster"

Wrong again. It was indeed clearly shown Apple approached Verizon
    before AT&T.
