I just purchased a Dell wireless 5510 3G expresscard, I have a Treo
750 with a 3G sim, should'nt I be able to just remove my sim from my
Treo phone and slip it in the PC card, and be able to access the
internet with my laptop? I'm getting an error message that says
contact my service provider! is their a work around or hack, that will
allow me to do this?
Thanks in advance

A friend of mine has a 3G SIM for his 3G handset and a 3G PC card - he
swaps it between the two all the time. I think he has unlimited
MediaNet on it.

I have unlimited pda internet access for my treo, that is why I
assumed I would have no problems using it in my pc card. I pretty sure
its some kind of configuration problem that I need help with.

I can't think of why it shouldn't work, but I'm not a PDA person,
someone else will have to figure out the configs.

Could be the difference between PDA data plan and the one needed for
card.
I used to have PDA data plan ($$$) on my Treo, but it got switched to
unlimited MediaNet (cheaper) by a well-meaning rep.
I wasn't supposed to be able to get MediaNet on my PDA because
ATT/Cingular wanted PDAs to pay more.
A CSA later told me that Cingular's computers would roam services and
disable MediaNet from PDAs if found, and this did seem to happen to me
once.
I called and talked to a tech, who reinstated MediaNet, and for the past
4-5 months, service has been stable.
I think with the advent of the iPhone, and the cheaper data, ATT
stopped their practice

This might sound dumb, but could the card be 'locked' to a service provider.
