On line the shipping wait is running around 5 to 7 days for an iPhone.

This this is still one hot phone! in spite of the envy from a few
    sour grapes.

And as one commenter states: "The cool thing is that the media hasn't
been tricked into reporting what is essentially a silent clearance sale
    of the iPhone."

That's no trick. Apple buys ADVERTISING, lots of it. Broadcasters aren't
so stupid as to jeopardize advertising revenues from ANY advertiser with
negative reports on the advertisers' products. The only time you'll ever
hear some car sucks on TV is when there's a forced recall from the
government, making reporting it an FCC requirement "for the public good",
as it says in their FCC license.

If half of the iphones failed to boot, you'd never hear about it on
American TV or radio as long as the company is buying advertising....

America seems fed up with this BS. Clear Channel is being sold off in
pieces because advertisers finally realized noone was listening to the CC
    drivel stations.

Right, except the CC auction is failing. As you say, no one listening...

I got a ratings agency call a while back. "What's your favorite radio
    station?", she wanted to know.

"Hmm...that's tough. It's between BBC2 and BBC4 and pretty close to
call.", I mused. "Put me down for BBC2. I like that station best."

After some silence, she wanted to know how I listened, so I showed her.
Oddly, BBC wasn't blocked on her company web browser.

"Well, what's your favorite LOCAL station?", she regrouped and asked.

"I never listen to local radio.", I stated flatly. "All they ever play is
    spam!"

Radio Swiss Jazz has my attention at the moment. Great mix of jazz
    music....no spam at all.

It's on the Xiph server on Streamtuner on the tablets.

    128Kbps tethered over Bluetooth eats sellphone batteries....(c;

I listen to the local PBS station. I like the talk subjects they
broadcast because I like going to bed smarter than when I woke up.

I right there with ya, same for satellite. DVR rules!

It is interesting that those stores are out of iPhones. It is a big
seller but given past Apple history what one might expect when
inventory runs down like that is an updated version. A new iPhone
version now would be earlier than predicted though. Hmm.

There are 692 for sale, not "thousands".

Sales are slow amd inventories are high right now because the 3G iPhone
is coming in a couple of months. See

Sales have been reported to be high. A 3G phone will make them higher.
