I remember at the beginning of this year hearing how the shutdown of
Amps would affect large amounts of OnStar customers. Even though I
don't have that, I am curious how that was handled and what the results
    were.
Can anyone shed some light on it?

Anyone with an amps based OnStar lost their service when they switched
to all digital. The in-car equipment cannot be upgraded. The only way
to continue with the service was to buy a new car.

My brother was one of those effected users. His ~5yo Saab has the amps
    equipment.

My friends GMC Envoy (AMPS) system was upgraded by the dealer for under $25.

Three friends of mine were also upgraded with their domestic vehicles.
I have no clue what it cost them.
