November is going to be an exciting month for all wireless cusomers. The
number portability will be in effect, which will increase competition
and lower prices. Also happening in Nov. - MMS messaging will be
implemented for Cingular customers. I think the number portability will
spawn a lot of new goodies so the service providers can "lure" their
competitors customers to switch. Good times...

Yep -- nothing like a healthy dose of competition!

Re: NY NJ COVERAGE WITH OWN TOWERS
I guess $69.95 for a $300 phone seems too expensive, but again with this
phone and a Nation Plan for Northern NJ(this time I checked
Teaneck/Englewood) with rollover mins and NW mins, ie: for $55, 500
anytime mins w/rollover, 5000 NW
mins, LD and no roaming charges. More mins are even cheaper. It
wouldn't matter which tower or carrier you connected, no additional
charges would accrue. You would have to switch to this plan to get this
capability. This is where you would have coverage:

I've had this same coverage with the 6340i since Dec. 14 and I go all
over the country in my 18 wheeler in my job. Couple of months ago I was
up in your neck of the woods at the Fort Lee Hilton just before the GW
Bride. At CW Post Campus NYU at Brookville on LI and the Westchester
Marriott in Tarrytown. No problems with coverage.

Cingular operates 850 MHz TDMA networks in three central NJ counties that
are also covered by the joint venture. These counties are also adjacent to
Cingular's Philadelphia 850 MHz TDMA / 850-1900 GSM network. Cingular will
overlay 850 GSM in these three counties. Target launch is late November.
