I received some comments about my possibly going to Cingular GSM.
Cingular in in Indiana has better coverage than Verizon, especially in my
are and the areas I travel.
Several times going to Louisville KY at night results in my not being able
to use Verizon in Kentucky after 9 PM

Also, I like being able to find a Cingular store within fifteen minutes
travel. If I travel forty-five minutes I can find several stores, and they
have real technicians. Verizon has one technician 60-70 miles away in pone
direction, and another in about 100 miles the other direction.

Cingular seems to be doing a better job here than Verizon, and I currently
have both, though my TDMA service has been degrading a little, but that just
means GSM is probably working better on the level that TDMA used to work.
Verizon makes excuses about coverage issues, when they have adequate
coverage, but echoes and dropped calls don't seem to cause any action.

    Re: Cingular GSM in Indiana

I haven't had any issues going from Louisville to Indy and back on Verizon.
There are a couple of spots where the area code divider line occurs that
will normally drop calls - but other then that it seems solid.

I know they use different A vs B sides on analog - but digital should make
    this a non-issue.

    Re: Cingular GSM in Indiana

I don't have a problem on I-65 either, actually it's covered with Verizon,
Cingular, Nextel, T-Mobile, and Sprint. It's when you go off the beaten path
    it becomes a problem.

The County line between Scott and Clark county Verizon goes from "B" system
to "A" system in the Louisville market. That's why it drops, and I'm not
sure it can be fixed. When I have a call drop in that area, and try to call
back immediately, my phone always roams to Sprint. It is something they need
    to fix in my opinion.

I'm in Washington, so my response really wont' effect you. It is my
impression that the eastern states have a more contorted cell phone
system. Get off the beaten path? Is your cell phone coverage is more
    closely restricted to the highways?

    "B" versus "A" shouldn't matter.

You're moving from one SID to another. I don't know if cellular calls
are guaranteed to work across SIDs with any carrier - but someone with
more technical expertise in CDMA should probably address that point.
