Does anyone now when Cingular is going to roll out their GSM network full
throttle in the Dallas area? I've heard that it's October have seen nothing
from Cingular to confirm this. Thanks for the help.

I talked to a cingular rep yesterday and she said late october early
november is what she has heard. They are already GSM in OKC and Houston
and Austin. You can put in an OKC or Houston Zip code and get an idea
of whats to be expected. The GSM national plan looks to have good
coverage with lots of included roaming. A better value than AT&T's GSM
    offering, assuming it works well.

But it falls far short of the current Preferred Nation plan. Why
would anyone give up Preferred Nation for Nation GSM (or give up
Statewide Plus for SuperHome for that matter)??? It's not one step
but several steps backwards in terms of coverage.

A lot of the transitioned markets now have a Cingular Nation Plan for
GAIT phones-the old TDMA Nation Plan. The plan I have had for 4 years
    500/3500 $49.99. Now 500/5000 with rollover $55.00.

Because some people don't travel outside the GSM coverage areas and
enjoy the benefits of GSM coverage (extended battery life, faster data
access and a superior selection of handsets).

That beats the pants off of AT&T's one-rate!
