Probably nothing more than what a brand-new customer could get.

That is, something like a Nokia 3595 for free or a Motorola T720 for $50 if
you commit to another 2 year contract.

My uncle has ATTWS and spends over $100/month and they will give him ANY
new phone he wants once per year as long as he commits to another year of
service.

I went to ATTWS and their phone prices are fantastic! A Nokia 3650 is $50
after rebates there for a one year contract, while at Cingular it's $300
with a 2 year contract! A Sony Ericsson T616 is $50 after rebates (it was
FREE for a few hours on Friday) with a one year contract while it's $200
wite a TWO year contract.

Cingular subsidized phone prices have gone from being great to absolutely
horrible lately -- almost as bad as Verizon or Sprint.

That will depend on what area of the country you live in. If you are
not in one of the 100 metro areas getting the WLNP service, then you
were definately get nothing.

If you are, it again depends on your area. We have nothing in our area
just yet. I haven't seen any perks with exception to the plans offered
so far.

Maybe closer to the time of implimentation you will see something.

cingulars phone prices are insane even att and t-mobile have better
deals attws doesn't have any sort of activation fee with 2 years but
cingular has activation and upgrade fees. Tmobile only requires 1yr
contract. You can easily get a nokia 3650 for free on amazon or about
99 at a tmobile vendor. If I had the choice i'd get a 3650 with
unlimited tzones for only 9 bux a month and have my number ported once
cingular says your new fone won't work with your old number.

Depending on the cell phone you started out you may get a free cell
phone with a lot better RF, due to new antenna systems. Cingular treats
returning customers better than AT&T does. You are like a brand new
customer. You can also get better deals than your old plan (if you have
not done that all ready. One side benefit is that you get new customer
rating for obtaining a phone on your new contract, without the heavier
costs that AT&T applies for the phone- You can only get that sort of
deal once with them.

You don't need to renew your contract unless you can get a better deal
on minutes or a free phone. You will just stay on the same plan without a
contract. They don't offer anything near as good as I have now. I have the
old nationwide plan.

Renewing your agreement is done at your own disgression. It isn't
necessary unless you need or want a new phone. You can change your rate
plan w/ cingular without signing a new agreement. In many of cingular's
major markets, they are overlaying with GSM technology and are offering
a wider selection of feature packed phones which are also accompanied by
new plans. Now, you are getting even more for you money then before.
I've had many other carriers and by all means, Cingular is the best.
They have much more coverage then anyone else and they treat their
customers well.

Nope. They ALL treat new users the same, if you know how to be a new user.

Bull on the second part at least, especially if you are using a GSM phone.

Verizon wireless has far better coverage than any other provider. The
problem is is that you pay thru the nose for it.

I can't claim any one of them is the absolute best, and they cetrtainly
do not the greatest coverage. No one providing any sort of coverage can
really make that claim unless they provide AMPS coverage on all their
markets. But Cingular has done all right by me. It annoyed the hell
out of me when they tried to refuse to provide GAIT phones. Best?

That's all very interesting, but what about those people who want to
keep thier current phone number? To sign up with a new plan would mean
a new phone number. New business cards anyone?

My "new user" method won't work then, unless you wait until LNP and then do
some creative work.

In my experience, changing cellular phone numbers is about as traumatic as
changing underwear or getting a new HOTMAIL account.

In other words, most people don't give a ****.

Kinkos will run me off a thousand business cards for like $5.00.

If it's a big deal to you, then you pay a few more bucks and get the
existing customer deals.
