    A little confused about your question....

    1. Is Cingular your current wireless provider?

    2. Has your market launched their GSM network yet?

    I agree, confusing heading- CDMA but you ask about TDMA? If you have
    the same provider this should be a simple matter of changing plans and
    retaining the same number, but your old phone would be made useless.
    This is not the LNP that folks are raving about. How near to the end of
    your current contract are you? 22 months on a two year and you can
    upgrade and sign a new contract.

    Yes, they will just program your number into the GSM phone if you are
    with Cingular now.
