It should be the same as T-Mobile since they're using T-Mobile's
    network in metro NY.

We've heard here and voicestream newsgroup that T-Mobile gets priority
on their system at times of heavy use in NYC.

I was in NYC last weekend and my phone actually displayed T-Mobile instead
    of Cingular Extend.

Well "heard" is nice, but do you have any confirmation or is it just
    another rumour?

Which is not surprising since cingular in NYC uses the T-Mobile
network. Same as in California if you have T-Mobile it will display
    cingular.

Virgin in the UK displays T-Mobile as Virgin uses the T-Mobile
    network.

    Re: Cingular GSM NYC??

A post a few months ago related a poster with a Cingular phone and a
friend with a T-Mobile phone. The Cingular user got system busy signals
and the T-Mobile user was able to make every call. Just anecdotal.

    Re: Cingular GSM NYC??

My T-Mobile handset said "Cingular" in San Diego. I have a 6340i with an
older SIM. Conversely, I got my free mobile to mobile which means that the
billing system knew that it was T-Mobile.

    Re: Cingular GSM NYC??

Cause it's the flip side in CA, T-Mobile runs on Cingular's network.
