I have gone two full rounds with tech support at Cingular so far, and nobody
seems to be able to come up with the correct information to configure my Nokia
3595 to sync the phone contacts and calendar with my contacts and calendar at
MyWirelessWindow.com. This is despite the fact that Cingular supplies the
software to sync your Outlook contacts on your PC, with your contacts on the
web site (which I've had no problems with).

My problem is getting the phone to sync with the web site, now that my Outlook
    contacts are up there.

The first rep's solution was to "turn off your phone, then uninstall and
reinstall the SyncNow software on your PC while the phone is off, then turn
the phone back on and try the sync again." I defy anybody to find a shred of
logic in that one. I did it anyway, just so I could say that I did.
    Obviously, this did not help.

The second rep's solution was to eventually tell me that the Nokia 3595 does
not support that function, even though there is a phone menu dedicated to this
function (Connectivity) and the owner's manual has a section describing the
    synchronization capabilities (page 113).

All I am looking for, are the settings for the "Synchronization Server" and
the "Database Address", but Cingular does not seem to have this information
    available, even to it's techs.

If there are really any Cingular techs reading this newsgroup, then I
challenge you to take ownership of this and post the correct config
information here. I would be very grateful.

Cingular provides you a service. You use their service. All those bells
and whistles you have are the phone manufacturer's issue. Call them!

Cingular sells this capability as part of their service.
Cingular sells phones that are designed with features for taking advantage of
    this capability (when configured correctly).
All I want is the configuration information, and I seriously doubt that Nokia
can provide me with server and database addresses for Cingular's network. If
they can, please post the URL.

    Nuthin' but love...

I don't know that this is the case for sure, but it's quite possible
    Cingular doesn't
support that feature of the phone. I had a caller-ID and SMS-capable
    analog
phone (a Nokia 252) long before Cingular offered such services. This
    is why
the Nokia website and owner's manuals generally add the disclaimer
    ("network
dependent feature") to many of the gee-whiz features on their phones.
    The
AT&T website used to advertise the Nokia 3360 as "Wireless Web
    Capable"
even though a) AT&T offered no internet connectivity on their TDMA
    network,
and b) AT&T had Nokia disable the WAP browser in the AT&T version of
    the
    phone!

Did you get the answer to that question yet? I would really like to
know as well. I can't seem to get my Nokia phone to sync with my
Outlook so I would be nice to be able to do it online with the
Mywirelesswindow site. I was told by Cingular however that it was not
    possible.

Let me know if you are able to.

You people. Do you call your cable company when your T.V remote breaks?
Do you call your satallite company when your T.V breaks?
Do you call your bullet manufacutrer when your gun breaks?

Ask stupid questions, get stupid answers.

Where on your phone does it say 'Made by Cingular'? Lol. Call Nokia with
your problems with Nokia phones. Call Cingular with your problems with
    cingular service.

And btw you're calling Cingular Cust Service, not tech support. Whos
    clueless?

You are pal... You might want to go back to the original post and check it one
more time. It *DOES* say tech support. There is no way to dial tech
support directly. Customer service has to transfer you through. Fairly
presumptious of you to claim to know who I was talking to when you were not
    conferenced in on the call.

Would you like a little gravy with that foot, genius?

I'll do this in baby talk, so maybe you'll understand.
I'ts like your mommy told you to go get her car keys, but she didn't tell you
where they were. Would you go ask the car manufacturer where your mommy's
keys were? No. You would go back and ask your mommy, the owner of the keys,
where they were. If she couldn't tell you where her keys were, then the trip
to Chuckie Cheese would be off.

The phone doesn't have a problem - Cingular has an information void. This IS
a Cingular issue, NOT a Nokia issue. I am looking for information from
Cingular about where to point my phone so that it can find my files on
Cingular's network. Do you think I can get that kind of information from
    Nokia?

If I can get the right net address location from Cingular, I can type that
information into the phone (just like typing in a phone number). That will
then tell the phone where to go to get (or download, as the adults say) the
files that are waiting for me on their network. Cingular and Nokia both say
this can happen, and in fact, the phone makes a valliant effort at doing it,
but without the right <begin air-quotes> network information <end air-quotes>
from the network owner (that would be Cingular - are you keeping up?) the
phone doesn't know where to go and the synchronization (sorry for using such a
    big word) fails.

    Get it?

Gads I am getting SO tired of the bloody incompetant people who post.
All the more reason for them to have to pass a 'common sense' test before posting.

Voorhes, open up the back of the phone - see that sim chip there
    under the battery?
It did not come from Nokia you noob, it came from Cingular.
That is what determines the functionality of the phone.
Have you ever tried contacting Nokia? Doubt it - they'll refer
you back to your service provider. Just as your cable box manufacturer
will refer your back to your cable provider if you're having problems.

also it DOES say 'Cingular' on the face plate

Do the world a favor and keep your worthless input to yourself.

    <grin>

man, Sprint and Nextel have Cingular beat hands down in regards to
    syncing contacts.

What service might I be lacking that would prevent me from getting
into mywirelesswindow.com. I tried my regular Cingular ID but it
    didn't take.
Also have you got a link to the software for syncing?

We shall overcome this - and get it to work despite the barriers!
