Just got my first bill from Cingular (after 4 years with ATT) and have
noticed one shortcoming that I missed when making the decision to switch.
With ATT, nationwide coverage included Canada - Cingular doesn't. Ouch!
Cingular's coverage map looked good, but I failed to notice that Canada was
blank. As I do business in Canada from time to time, this IS an issue and
something that will affect my decision to stay with Cingular when my
contract expires.

I have coverage with my Nokia 6340i all over Canada (with add. fees)
through Bell Mobility AMPS and Microcell GSM. I've already picked them
up in the Detroit area in Grosse Pointe Farms nest to Lake St Clair.
GAM-only phones should be able to pick up Microcell GSM. Go this link
and follow directions for your individual handset roaming options.

Bummer. You might want to obtain a temp phone with an AT&T contract. I
don't mean the To-go plan, this is the worse contract you can get into-
too expensive.
The other option is just simply drop Cingular before it's too late.
AT&T has a better roaming contract with Canada and has a massive TDMA
footprint. I would go with their GAIT phone on a multi-band plan.
I don't go to Canada all that much. I notice that when my Cingular Gait
phone switches to TDMA its roaming on AT&T.
