True. But are the rumors true that SBC wants out of the Cingular deal
so they can buy controling interest in Sprint PCS?

Why would a company want out of controling interest of the #2 carrier,
to buy controlling interest in a less profitable carrier? Makes no
sense to me. But then again, this is America.

Did you know America is the only country in the world where a poor black
boy can grow up to be a rich white woman? That's right, Michael Jackson
is American. ((Did *I* say that joke out loud??))

The only thing I can come up with close to what you are saying is a few
years back SBC wanted to purchase TMobile, then Verizon, but the deal
never went through. SBC isn't going to dump Cingular, especially for Sprint.

The same people that own Cingular must own the company that I work for.

    Re: who owns cingular?

Kind of figured it was not true. I could not find anything on the site
for either SBC, or BLS. I heard it from a "I know everything about
every Wireless company" type of person. I just figure 99.99% of what
comes out of his mouth is B.S.

Thanks for clearing it up. I did know about Cingular wanting to buy
T-Mobile. That actually came back into the news in the last few
months. T-Mobile sent an offer to Cingular, but they rejected it, or
    something made it fall through.

I've always wondered whether the FCC would allow Cingular and T-Mobile
to merge, or one buy the other out.

I have heard rumours that Britain's Vodafone (45% owner of Verizon
Wireless) wants to buy T-Mobile and get out of the Verizon Wireless
Venture because Verizon Communications, 55% owner, will not let Vodafone
make any decisions. This is all rumour, of course. I've also heard
that Vodafone would like to "disassemble" the joint venture, taking back
    its contributions to the venture.

And of course, there are rumours that Verizon Wireless wants to buy
    Sprint PCS in full, too.

But these are rumours, and nothing else. Until something hits news with
the wireless carriers, we can assume all is staying the same.
