Hello,
I have the basic super home calling plan with nothing extra for service. I
have a palm that can communicate with my nokia 6340i and dial my ISP (on my
nokia) and establish a connection to the internet letting me view web sites
and send email from my palm. When I connect this way am I only using my
anytime or night and weekend minutes or is cingular going to charge me for
data or something else?

Re: Cingular, palm and nokia 6340i
Could you describe how you connect? With a USB cable or a serial? What
software?
I can't get my 6340i to link with my computer.

Re: Cingular, palm and nokia 6340i
I connect using infrared from the Palm to the Nokia. I use the built in
network setting on the Palm and no other software. The Palm has options I
can set it to connect to modem via infrared. I add my user name and password
and phone number. I enable infrared on the nokia and point it at the Palm
and hit connect on the Palm and it dials the number and I am surfing away.
Do you know if cingular is going to charge me extra for this or if I am only
burning up minutes like I would in a normal phone call?

It counts just as a normal phone call.

Re: Cingular, palm and nokia 6340i
I think you are just using minutes, like normal calls.
Thanks for the information.

Re: Cingular, palm and nokia 6340i
I have a 6340i and a Gateway 600x laptop and am trying to use the phone as a
modem...I have an IR adapter that uses a USB port, and I've purchased the
Cingular Data Connect Kit and I've registered with MyWirelessWindow and I have
WirelessInternet (NOT WI Express), and am able to connect with Wireless
Internet via the Data Connect Kit window, but I can't surf anywhere or check my
AOL e-mail; the DC window doesn't give me that option..hardly any options,
actually. I know that something needs to be done or reconfigured or
whatever...can anybody help me? Thanks, Aaron Worley
also: the Data Connect software dials the Wireless Internet number fine, but
I can't get it to dial the AOL local access #s, or their 1-800 access number...

Re: Cingular, palm and nokia 6340i
If you go on Nokia's website,
http://www.nokiausa.com/phones/software/6340i and download the PC
suite connectivity guide (pdf file) it will tell you how to make
changes so you can connect using AOL as your ISP.
