Cingular GSM downed in MD over the weekend?

My wife's new Cingular GSM Sony Ericsson T616 (and others as well) have no
signal all this weekend. My local Cingular rep says" entire GSM network was
down all weekend on the East coast". Anyone else experiencing problems??

That would be pretty irresponsible of the rep to say network is down for the
entire east coast. That's a big chunk of real estate. There was some
maintenance being done this weekend, perhaps it had something to do with
that.

some percentage of gsm phones accounts were messed up this weekend in Baton
Rouge. One of my two gsm phones did not work most of Saturday. There were a
dozen people in the store asking about it. I had called customer service but
they knew nothing about it and had directed me to take my phone into the
store.

OK, it's one thing to say a whole network is down vs. having a number of
accounts down.
