Hi guys.
Yesterday I ordered a new phone from Cingular so that I could get a
new phone as well as get on the nation wide plan.
Can anyone give me their thoughts / experiences with this phone?
Also what standards does this particular phone support?
Does the g in the model name mean I'll have a gsm enabled phone? Is
this a phone I can plug in to my laptop with a serial or usb
connection and surf the Internet as if I were using a modem?
I know this method wouldn't be fast, I'd probably only get around a
14.4 connection, but it will work for e-mail if I needed it too.
Thanks,
Tommy

It probably sucks just like the one t-mobile had and at&t had it and they
pulled it too.

My advice: Don't get it.
I have the C331t, and it has served me very well. However, I had the
TDMA version. Voice quality was excellent, and service was phenomenal.
However, with the C331g, you have a built-in battery. So if the
battery won't hold a charge, the entire phone is a total loss. What is
your definition of "Nationwide". If coverage is important, GSM is not
for you, yet. I also have a Sony Ericsson T62u, and I have had great
luck with it. TDMA/AMPS signal is not as strong as the Motorola C331t,
but overall it works very well, with absolutely no complaints.
How important is national coverage to you?

I *despise* the Motorola c331g for two reasons. First, the battery lasts
about 10 hours *without* any calls. If you make calls, it dies earlier.
Second, it has a low-battery warning beep that you cannot switch off. There
have been many nights when I forgot to plug it into the charger, and it
begins to beep in the middle of the night, waking me up. I have often wanted
to take a sledgehammer to it.
Other annoyances are that it's not very loud, so it's difficult to hear
people, and that the buttons are too small and badly shaped so that it's
easy to press the wrong button.
The phone looks really cute, however.
