software update

Is there a way - other than driving across town to see the Cingular Techie -
to find out if my 6340i has the latest software update. I will gladly drive
across town to get it flashed if needed but do not want to drive there just
to be told - you have the latest.

Turn off phone and then back on to get back in normal mode.
I believe the latest version is 8.05.3

I have version 8.03.1 How would I update to the latest version other
than visiting a Cingular store?

I have an older version too and wondered if anyone knows of a list of fixes
or changes that were made to the newer version so I can determine if I
should have mine updated?
